Andrea K. Welker
Andrea began her career as an attorney in Ashland, KY with the law firm of Gordon J. Dill, PSC, where she practiced family law, medical malpractice and employment law. When she returned to Lexington as a solo practitioner, she volunteered for CAT Legal Clinic, the medical-legal partnership at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. That volunteer work later became a full-time job after co-writing the grant that funded the position; she has since spent 15 years providing civil legal services and advocacy to UK pediatric and adolescent patients with legal issues impacting their health. During her time with UK Healthcare, she has served as a co-investigator on multiple grant-funded research studies, measuring the impact of civil legal services on patient health outcomes. She has been an adjunct faculty member at UK College of Law for the past decade, an adjunct at UK College of Arts & Sciences, and preceptor for medical students at UK College of Medicine during their third-year pediatrics rotation.
Andrea is currently serving the 2022-2026 elected term as Fayette County Constable, District 1.
In her free time, she enjoys fiber arts, playing violin with the Lexington Community Orchestra, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Lexington. She lives in Lexington with her husband, their two teenage daughters, and golden doodle Stanley.
